Choosing the right system for an Arizona home
Air conditioners in Surprise and Sun City West run far more hours than in most of the country, so efficiency pays off faster here. SEER2 is the current efficiency rating for air conditioners and heat pumps. The higher the SEER2, the less electricity the system uses to cool your home.
Heat pumps are a strong choice in the West Valley because they heat efficiently through our mild winters and cool through the summer in one system. Homes with existing gas service may prefer an air conditioner paired with a gas furnace. New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants such as R-454B or R-32, replacing R-410A under federal rules.
Just as important is size. An oversized system short cycles and wastes energy, while an undersized system runs nonstop on the hottest days. We size every system for your home, not for the unit it replaces.
