An AC refrigerant recharge from My AZ Pro costs $100 to $150 per pound for R-410A and $150 to $250 per pound for older R-22 systems. Because air conditioners do not use up refrigerant, low refrigerant almost always means there is a leak, and the right fix is to find and repair it rather than keep adding refrigerant.

How much refrigerant will I need?
It depends on how much has leaked out and the size of your system. A small top-off may need a pound or two, while a system that has lost most of its charge needs more. We weigh the refrigerant in and give you the price in writing.
Why a recharge alone is not a fix
Refrigerant runs in a sealed loop. If the level is low, it escaped through a leak, and it will keep escaping. Recharging without repairing the leak means paying again later, and running low on refrigerant can damage the compressor.
Signs your system is low on refrigerant
- Warm or weak airflow
- Ice on the refrigerant lines or coil
- Hissing or bubbling sounds
- Longer run times and higher bills
